Patient Services

Introduction
Northern Care, Inc. is a full service orthotics & prosthetics facility.  Our new building was built in 1999 and was custom designed for our “in house” fabrication lab.  Our facility was awarded Accreditation by the American Board for Certification in November 2006 based on organizational management, patient care standards, quality assurance and facility and safety management.  We take great pride in this, as patient care is our number one priority

The services rendered by Northern Care, Inc. involve the orthotic and prosthetic management of individuals with physical disabilities.  Patients are accepted only by referral of or in consultation with a licensed physician.  We will comply  at all times with the Facility Accreditation Standards as outlined by the American Board for Certification (ABC) in Orthotics and Prosthetics.

Orthotic and prosthetic procedures include an evaluation, design criteria, fabrication, fitting and delivery of the orthoses and/or prostheses.  With all procedures, follow-up care is of the utmost importance.  Therefore, it is the responsibility of the patient to contact Northern Care, Inc. to arrange follow-up visits if one has not been scheduled at the time of fitting.  This is included in the initial fee.

Orthosis
A brace used to stabilize a specific joint (s) of the body that now needs external reinforcement.

Prosthesis
A fabricated substitute for a missing part of the body.  It is custom designed to duplicate as close as possible, the look and function of the missing part.
